The First Prize Winner of this year?s Hannover International Violin Competition has been chosen. The jury reached its decision in the late hours of October 17th, following two exciting days of final round concerts at the NDR Lower Saxony State Broadcasting Center.
The Hannover International Violin Competition?s Second Prize awards 20,000 Euros to the 22-year-old Japanese violinist Saeka Matsuyama. The jury chose the 22-year-old Chinese violinist Feng Ning for the 10,000 Euro Third Prize. The three remaining finalists will each be recognized with an award of 5,000 Euros. The competition will be releasing a CD before the end of the year presenting all six finalists in competition concerts.
The festive awards ceremony takes place on the evening of October 18th in the Concert Hall of the NDR Lower Saxony State Broadcasting Center at the Maschsee in Hannover. In the concert that follows the audiences will enjoy the artistry of all six finalists one last time in this year?s competition.
The Hannover International Violin Competition is dedicated to Joseph Joachim and is presented triennially by the Stiftung Niedersachsen (Foundation of Lower Saxony). The next edition will be taking place from October 1st to 14th 2006.
