The semi-finalists will be performing a program of their own preference during the 60-minute morning recital sessions. At 8 p.m., Mozart’s violin concertos are on the program. Agnieszka Duczmal and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra will be accompanying the artists.

The sole required work in the recital was composed especially for the competition by Arvo Pärt. It is entitled “Passacaglia”. Pärt, an Estonian composer, is known for the virtually religious intensity of his works. They are distinguished by clarity and simplicity, rather than virtuosity. The audiences can look forward to twelve very individual interpretations of the “Passacaglia”.

The Hannover International Violin Competition is dedicated to Joseph Joachim and is presented triennially by the Stiftung Niedersachsen (Foundation of Lower Saxony).
